Under articles L.612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, every consumer is entitled to free recourse to a consumer ombudsman with a view to settling a dispute amicably, having first attempted a written complaint directly with us. Failing an amicable settlement, the dispute may be brought before the competent courts. A consumer resident in France may choose a court with territorial jurisdiction under the Code of Civil Procedure, the court for the place where they lived when the contract was concluded, or the court for the place of actual delivery (Art. R. 631-3 of the Consumer Code).
